Who is Graeme Archibald?
Good question. I’m still trying to figure that out, 34 years in.
I am currently based in Ottawa, Canada. By day, I am a public servant. At night, I write.
I began my screenwriting journey in earnest during the pandemic in 2020. I was living alone, staying home, and figured it was as good a time as any to finally turn all those ideas in my head into words on a page.
I dabble in other genres, but my heart belongs to rom-coms and coming-of-age comedies.
There’s just something about a perfectly sweet meet-cute, a completely avoidable misunderstanding, and a bold declaration of love that gets me every time. Yes, even if it ends in an airport chase scene. Bonus points if it takes place at Christmas. Fun to watch, even more fun to write.
Then there’s coming-of-age stories - figuring life out is hard at the best of times, especially these days, especially in these unprecedented times. I love writing scripts that see young people navigating the ups and downs of early adulthood, with plenty of laughs along the way.
By the way, that’s me over there looking sharp at the premiere of - you guessed it - a Christmas rom com short called Magic on Set. You can check it out on YouTube.
